Diyarbakir Guide

The great ancient basalt citywalls Diyarbakir surround a city of mosques, many packed into a relatively small area. You can spend about two days here simply on the tourist office in the cultural Sarayi and ask for a map shows you the mosques and other places of interest.

Diyarbakir is probably the most important city in south-east Turkey. From this point on, you can travel to most major towns in eastern Turkey with dolmus minivans or take the long bus and more comfortable. This place is an alternative instead of Antakya stop near the south coast for travellers from or go to Syria.
