Corum, Alacahoyuk, Bogazkoy (Hattusas) Travelguide

Corum is a city in North-Central and Turkey. It is on the verge of a fertile plain. A historic town on old trade routes from central Anatolia to the Black Sea coast, Çorum became famous for its hand-spinning and weaving cottage industries, the production of copper utensils, and its leather goods. It is also the main trading center for the surrounding plain, the level, irrigated by the river Kizil (the old Halys), produces cereals, fruits, tobacco, and sugar beet. The city has a 13th-century Ottoman mosque and several structures.

Sites like Hattusas in Bogazkale, Yazilikaya and Alacahoyuk in Alaca town, which were important residences of those times, can be found in the province of Corum, with its remnants of the glorious age of the Hittites.

Bogazkale - Bogazkoy (Hattusas)

Although the province of Corum is in the Black Sea region, Bogazkale, one of his city, is located in the region of Central Anatolia. It is the centre of the ancient Hittite region and is now a national park. The ruins of Hattusas are memorable for their situation and the antique. The Great Temple of God Tesup storm, and the fortress are remarkable. The city was the religious center of the Hittites, and since there were many temples here, it was known as the city of temples. Fine Hittite reliefs of gods and goddesses adorn the walls, carved into the native stone, from the 13th Century BC. The names of the gods are inscribed in hieroglyphs on their heads, and a relief a Hittite king, dressed as a priest, is of particular interest in the well-preserved ruins.
