Marmaris rivals Kusadasi as the major resort on Turkey's west coast. Hovever, Marmaris has more forests and natural beauty, scenery to offer than Kusadasi, except the historic site that is not as rich as Kusadasi. The name of Marmaris supposedly comes from the Turkish saying "would pamper like", ie arhcitect hang. When you see the package of high-rise apartment buildings you know what is meant by this. The best way to go is by plane Marmaris to Dalaman Airport (90 km).
The old town and the bazaar is located east of Ulusal Egemenlik Bulvari. Neither is particularly interesting, but the Castle Museum is worth a look.

Marmaris is mainly useful as a starting point for excursions to major tourist attractions of the coast and be sure to visit Turunc Gunluk and boat. It is a very useful too. There are many (some say too much) accommodation, restaurants and bars. When you are in Marmaris if facing the sea, may seem like a lake. There are small Straigth connects to open to see what is hard to see. For most of the world-II vessels that lie in the Bay. Marmaris has two large navy.

Marmaris is easily accessible as a destination for day trips from the island of Rhodes, fast ferries operate daily and the journey time is approximately one hour. The local Tourism operate a free shuttle service in the city of springs, giving a tour of the area in the process, the goal is to promote the area with the hope that return for a longer stay.

Be careful with the amount of goods they carry back to Rhodes, however, the Greek customs officials can be very strict in implementing the limits.
